Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting. It's been a great 2 years, but for some reason, my heart just isn't in it anymore. I'm not saying I won't return, but for now it's goodbye!

The March Chart: The Results

So, that was March. Just like last year I've been monitoring various aspects of my life. The results are as follows.....

Miles driven in a car
Total in 2007: 265.8
I hardly use my car. Mainly this is due to living in the city centre. I guess the reason that it's up from last year is due to the fact of my travelling to Bolton every week for uni.

Amount spent on groceries
Total in 2007: £222.96
So I spent £1.69 more this year on groceries than I did last year. I don't think this is too bad considering we now have a MUCH bigger fridge than this time last year so we are buying more stuff. Either that or we're just greedy!

Total amount of hours spent online
Total in 2007: 176.3hrs
Not a significant increase from last year. Only 10 hours or so. I can live with that. I'll blame uni again!

The total amount of alcohol drank
Total in 2007: 30 units (out of a possible 84)
The healthy average is 14 units for a woman and 21 units for a man per week, I didn't do too bad - and only one up from last year!

The total amount of hours slept
Total in 2007: 244.4hrs
They say you should get 8hr of sleep a day. So, in total over the course of the month I should have slept for a total of 248hrs. I guess I'm getting enough sleep then. I'm sleeping better than last year too!

Total in 2007: 8
I was thinking of changing this section, as I knew this wouldn't be a very good topic now I live in the city centre. Anyway, I couldn't think of what to replace it with, so it stays.

A slight increase from last year, although the number of returning visitors has increased on the whole. I'm happy with that!

Amount of hours spent working
Total in 2007: 150.5hrs
The average for me (working 37.5hrs a week) would be 150hrs a month. So, I'm on target this year! Actually, I'll probably be over. I don't normally have a 30 minute break when I'm working in the evenings.

Amount of tea and coffee drank
Total in 2007: 43 cups
22 less than last March. I've cut back on tea and coffee now. I've switched to green tea too - yum!

Amount of tax paid on wages
Total in 2007: £286.73
That's the normal for me. My total deductions are normally £500+. I guess it's an increase from last year seeing as I got my tax free last year of £229.54.

So, another March chart. Another 11 months and it'll be time to do it all again!

Doesn't Have It!

Now I know that I'm a Madonna fan, but we all know there is something she should never do. That is act! For her latest thing, she launched a clothing range at H&M. This time, it was launched with a huge advertising campaign which included adverts. She is so wooden. The lines are so corny! "Don't think it, you need to know it!" and "I like it". Those inter cut with her shredding pieces of paper - maybe Guy Ritchie's next script? The whole thing just makes me cringe!

Tired Malcolm!

When I came home from work yesterday I was quite tired (hence the reason I slept in) and thought at about 5pm I'd go for a little nap on the bed for an hour or so. Alan finished work at 5.30pm so I knew he would be home to wake me at about 6ish. Anyway, the next thing I knew I woke up and it was 4am! I've been up since 4.30am this morning - playing more Zelda on the Wii. I'm glad in a way, because maybe now I can get back in to a regular sleeping pattern!

Luckily I have three days off now and I'm not back in until Monday (and even then it's just for a meeting!). Nothing much planned really - just the usual wander around town I think. It's a works night out on Good Friday. Maybe I'll get something to wear for that!

The Apprentice

The third season of 'The Apprentice' started tonight on BBC One. I've watched this since it started and have also watched the previous two American seasons. Looks like it will be interesting this time around. Thought the lady team leader was a bit scary! How she changed her tune when she found out she had won! Love it!

How would you like to wear a webcam 24hrs a day/7 days a week and have it stream to your very own website? Sound crazy? Well one guy is doing just that! Justin at Justin.tv has decided to wear the camera all of the time. His website seems to be quite popular too. I've only tuned in the once, but when I did he was busy having a photo shoot for something.

Just another crazy idea! I wonder what happens when he needs the bathroom or needs to shower, let alone other things that people do when alone *ahem* or together for that matter!

Wii Have A Connection Problem!

Grrrrrrrr! I seem to be having a slight problem with my Wii - the first one since I got it! For the past couple of weeks, when I'm needing to connect it to the interent I'm getting "error code 52030". This just says it's unable to connect to the internet. I also went through a day or so of getting "error code 51330" which has stopped now. My wii searches and picks up my router. I enter the key etc but it doesn't connect.

I did a search online for the two error codes and did what they said - change the channel of my router from 1 to 11 - but I'm still getting errors. Can any of you techno people out there help. Or is anyone else with a Wii having problems? Maybe it's their fault!

UPDATE: It's all sorted now :)

I'll Have An 'N' Please (Part One)

So, Ant has set me a mini task. To list 10 thing's I like beginning with the letter 'N'. Here's the first five.....

1. Newcastle - My home town. I grew up there and lived there for 25 years. A great city that will always be special to me. It'll always remain close to my heart.

2. North - I guess this ties in with the first one, but I've always found the North a friendly place to live. I can't really see me moving south.

3. Nursing - My job. If I didn't like it I wouldn't do it. I actually love my job. It has it's moments, but then again, doesn't every job? I've been working in vascular surgery since I qualified in 2002 and really enjoy the speciality.

4. Next - The place I buy most of my clothes from. I love this shop.

5. Nokia - I've had so many mobile/cell phones in the past, but I've always seemed to go back to the Nokia brand. I just prefer them.

Over the next few days, posts might be a bit thin on the ground. This is due to the crap rota I have at work between tomorrow and Wednesday. I worked it out I'll be doing 52hrs in 5 days. Now I know for some that is normal, but considering I'm on my feet the whole shift and I'm legally accountable for 10 people is enough to wear me out. I'm working 7.15-14.45 tomorrow and then ALL day on Sunday (7.15-21.30) and then ALL day again on Monday then two normal shifts Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meh!

Comic Relief

I must say, I was a bit disappointed at this years 'Comic Relief'. I turned it off after an hour. Good to see they are raising a lot though - so far it's at £27,000,000 and that's only since 7pm. As I said, I was going to donate something. I always do. So, I said I would donate 10p for every unique hit on my site between 1st and 16th March. As a result, I'll be donating £27.70 to 'Comic Relief'.

Walkabout: Manchester

I went into Manchester this afternoon to have a wonder. I was sitting having a coffee and decided that I would have a wonder around Manchester and take some photos.

Above is where I started my idea. Those are taken at Exchange Square in the centre of Manchester. I called in to Starbucks and was sitting drinking my coffee and watching the huge TV. For some reason they were showing a live radio show - hmmmmm. Across the road from that is Next. It's huge - I don't know another Next as big! I've spent many a time in there.

I then decided to take myself down the road and to the Town Hall. I first thought that is was a huge church when I moved here. Kind of puts the 70s throw back Civic Centre in Newcastle to shame! The photo to the right is the Central Library. Again, I thought it was a concert hall. I've never actually been inside. Maybe I'll do that another time.

From the library, I wondered along towards the G-Mex. It's a small arena but I couldn't get a decent photo. Too much shadowing. As I was walking by though, I managed to get a picture of a tram. I've only ever been on a tram a couple of times. They are pretty cool. I took a walk down to Granada Television Studios next - home to Coronation Street. Now I was hoping to take a picture of the set. From the pavement, you can see 'The Kabin' and the house above it, but they were filming and the guy wouldn't let me take a photo - pah! He said all I could do was take a photo of the Granada TV sign. I'll go back one day when they aren't filming. In the photo of the Granada TV sign, Coronation Street is just over the fence in the bottom left hand corner.

From Granada TV I walked up the road towards Deansgate and saw a blue postbox. I have no idea why it was blue. It had 'GR' on the front and not 'ER'. If anyone knows why - let me know! At the end of the road is one of Manchester's newest builds. It's Beetham Tower - the UKs tallest residential building (so far)- 50 storeys high. The first half (up until the lip) is a Hilton Hotel.

Round the corner from there I came to Deansgate Locks (where I was on Wednesday night). A few trendy wine bars - quite nice as you can drink along the canal. The photo on the top right is the route I take home now and again from town. I can walk along the canal - it's quite nice. Both bottom photos are also taken on the walk home.

Lastly, the view from my floor. This is taken from the window as I come out of the lift.

Well, that's all the photos I got. I haven't even touched on the surface of places to see in Manchester. Maybe I'll do another one soon. Hope I didn't bore you and maybe I've gave you an insight to the place I live!

No Hangover!!

I was out again last night with a few work mates. I was determined not to feel as rough as I did last week. Lesson learned: binge drinking is not good!! We met at a reasonable time too - 7.30pm so there was no need to rush. I actually stopped drinking at about 12.30am. Was drinking at a steady pace and not too fast. Well, expect one time when we went to a shooters bar. It worked though! I woke up this morning hangover free! I had the most gorgeous kebab last night. Not the horrible chip shop/burger bar kebab. I live next to a Turkish/Greek cafe and I got it from there. It's like a tortilla wrap and was fab!

Speaking of food, I have a craving for beans and cheese on toast! Need to go and buy some bread. I wonder if the Turkish place will be open - hehe.

Zelda: Twilight Princess

Last weekend I was browsing around HMV looking at what games where available for the Wii and got looking at 'Zelda: Twilight Princess'. I sounded quite good so bought it and thought I'd give it a try anyway. Now normally, it wouldn't be a game I would go for, but seeing as there aren't many titles out for the Wii at the moment, I had little choice.

I'm glad I did buy it though. I've never been into a game so much. It's become addictive. I've been playing it for 7hrs (not all at once). Reviews I've read say it can be completed in about 40-50hrs. So it should keep me going for a while! I just realised the time so came to bed, otherwise God knows how long I would have been sat there for!!

Light Mornings!

At last!! I had 3 days off from work and when I go back, it's light in the morning! I snapped the above picture at 06:45 this morning on my way to work. There wasn't really anything interesting to take a picture of, so that's the university. I love it when the mornings are light. I seem to have more energy. I also bounce out bed in the morning. I was just so surprised at to how quick they set in!

Oh how my head ached this morning!

I woke up at about 10am and felt so rough. I was naughty and I binged drank last night - tut tut! I didn't meet my mate until 22:30 and I was back home for 01:30, so that was only 3hrs I was out for!! I blame the 'buy one get one free' offer that the pub had on!! I couldn't face anything to eat until about 7pm this evening!!

I'm out again next week with a couple of mates from work. Will I learn?? Probably not!

Lunar Eclipse

Tonight saw the first lunar eclipse - when the earth comes between the moon and the sun - for the first time in 3 or so years. The weather was looking dodgy to start with. Lots of cloud! This is Manchester, I shouldn't have really built my hopes up! However, the clouds cleared at about 22:45 to reveal the moon in it's full glory, slowly being eaten away but the earths shadow and turning a weird shade of red! It was cool! I tried to get some pictures, but being 8 floors up, I didn't really want to hang out of the window just to take a picture of the moon! It may have been at night, but at least it was better weather than we had the solar eclipse on August 11th 1999 - Cornwall disappointed us all!!

Don't worry if you missed it, the next one will occur next February - but it'll happen at 3am on a Thursday morning. Then after that, it'll be December 2010.

The March Chart

Comic Relief

This month (March 16th) sees 'Comic Relief'. It's the BBC's telethon to raise money to help people in Africa. I normally donate about £20 or so every year (as my good deed of the year). I also donate to Children In Need too.

This year, I thought I'd do something a little different to determine how much I donate. Starting from now and running up until 16th March, for every unique visitor that visits my page, I will add 10p to my donation fund. So, if you visit my page more than once in 24hrs, only the first visit will be counted - refreshing won't work hehe!

..... so fast!

It's March 1st already!! This year is going so fast. I can't believe we're already into the third month of 2007 already!

I have a day off today! I haven't looked forward to a day of in ages. It's been busy at work this week. Not just the "normal" kind of busy, but MAD busy. The hospital I work at is currently undergoing a lot of building work and part of the new hospital opened on Monday. Anyway, to staff this new part, 4 members of our staff left to go and work there. To compensate for this, they were meant to close 7 beds on our ward. Needless to say this hasn't happened (and doesn't really look like it will) and we're now running to full capacity and we are still 4 members of staff down!

I;m back at uni tomorrow. I only felt like I was there a few days ago. Maybe it's a sign I'm getting old!!

It's been a little quiet on the blogging front lately. Just thought I'd do a quick update. I haven't actually been up to much, so can't really use the excuse that I've been busy. I've been off work since Tuesday and I;m back there tomorrow. It's been really busy and shit at work lately. Never a good combination. I can't believe how fast these weeks are going. I'm back at uni tonight. Doesn't seem five minutes when I was enrolling! Might have a wonder into town later and have a browse around. Don't particularly want anything, but I might find something that catches my eye.

Anyway, I'm off for a drink now. I've just discovered green tea - mmmmmmmmmm.

FIlm Review: Hot Fuzz

Small village, big time policeman (officer).

This film is from the makers of 'Shaun Of The Dead' and stars the same two lead roles - Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It focuses on a big time London policeman (Pegg) being transferred to a small country village. I wasn't too keen on 'Shaun Of The Dead', but I thought this still looked like fun. Overall I enjoyed it. The storyline was easy enough to follow. I did feel that the end went on a bit too much. Alan told me that it was the whole point, but I still feel it could have been a little shorter. The comedy element is better than 'Shaun Of The Dead' and I did laugh a lot more in this film.

I had a really weird dream last night. I was being chased by Lisa Scott-Lee (left) from 'Steps' fame. I have no idea what brought this dream on. The odd thing is, that she was chasing me in ice skates. That's probably got something to do with her being in ITV1's 'Dancing On Ice'. Anyway, she spent all of the dream chasing me around and the dream ended when I ran into a church and the only way I could avoid her was to stand in a queue and meet the the Pope (even then it was the last Pope and not the current one). What the hell does all that mean?? Can anyone interpret dreams?? Would be interesting to know - hehe.

Last Day Off

Today is my last day off work! I've reached to end of my two week holiday and I'm back in tomorrow. It's been a good holiday though. I've enjoyed it. What has made it better is that Alan was off at the same time so we've spent most of it together. We're planning on seeing 'Hot Fuzz' later on. It looks like fun!

Getting Back On Track

Over the past couple of weeks, I've not really done much reading. I really want to do more, hence why I'm posting this. With work, enrolling and starting uni, and then having family down and going to Newcastle to visit family I just really haven't had any time to read.

From today though, I plan to get back on track and start reading. I'm on my second book of the year and already have my third one delivered and sitting on my table waiting for me to pick it up and start reading.

Weekend Over

The trip to Newcastle was good. Was nice to catch up with family and friends. It was bloody cold though. I guess that coastal breeze made things a tad chilly. I forgot how cold it got up there. There was no snow - which was good i guess. The drive up there was a bit of a nightmare. It took me 4hrs to get there instead of the normal two and a half. This was due to speed restrictions on the M62 heading over the hills - pah!

Some of you know I'm off to see Girls Aloud on May 14th. I was surfing around before and came across this.....

I've only ever heard a couple of tracks by the Rogue Traders. Anyone know if they are any good?

Panic Stricken

So, we had some snow! So, the temperature dropped below 0C! And.....???

This country makes me laugh. A little bit snow and it sends us into a big panic frenzy! In Canada it's -19C and they are just getting on with it. A couple of inches (if that in places) of snow here and they close schools to stop children hurting themselves!! They only stay off and hurt themselves anyway!

Weekend Away

Me and Alan are off to Newcastle for the weekend today. It's the first time Alan would have been to Newcastle since I came out in November last year. It could be worse I suppose. At least they aren't meeting him for the first time.

Should be quite a good weekend. We're meeting one of my old work mates tonight. I used to work with her when I worked in Newcastle and we became pretty good friends. It's always good to catch up with her.

Hopefully the drive up there will be fine. I was on the phone to family last night and they told me that they had no snow. The roads should be clear!

Back To Normal

Well, my mum and sister have been dropped back off in Newcastle, and everything has returned to normal now. It was a nice weekend. Headed in to town to have a look around on the Saturday and then caught a tram down to Salford Quays. I had never been before so it was an experience for me too. We bumped into Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch from Coronation Street) while we were there. My mum and sister decided they needed some new clothes! Why is it when people are away from home, they feel like they have to buy stuff??

We went out for drinks and ended up in Liz Dawn's (Vera from Coronation Street) pub. Had a few in there - I like it. Seeing as the pub is just across the road from Granada Televison, we took a strole over. If you stand at a certain point you can see the Coronation Street set. Hmmmmm, the weekend was very Coroantion Street themed - unintentionally!!

I'm on holiday this week. Haven't got a lot planned. Me and Alan are driving up to Newcastle on Friday to spend the weekend there. Should be fun :)

I spent about 2 hours playing on it last night before going to bed. I seem to be pretty good at tennis and golf and totally crap at baseball. I've yet to try boxing, although Alan tells me it's pretty good.

I woke up this morning with aching arms and muscles. Maybe I'll need to cancel my gym membership??

Sleepless Night

Last night was a nightmare. I was wide awake until 3am at least. I dozed on and off - but was totally aware that I wasn't asleep until I last looked at my clock at 4:36am. My alarm went off at 6am for work, where I went to work for 7:15am and remained there until 9pm tonight. Needless to say I'm feeling it now. To make matters worse, today was a shift from hell and was really busy. I'm on another long day tomorrow, so have 14.5hrs ahead of me. The only reason I can think of for not sleeping, was due to my crazy sleeping patterns I've had this past week with not feeling too good. Hopefully, now I didn't catch much sleep last night I'll sleep with no problems. He says.....

Re-discovering: Natalie Imbruglia

I was looking through some mp3s that I had on my external hard drive and came across Natalie Imbruglia's album 'Counting Down The Days'. I loved this album when it came out and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since I got home from work this evening. It has to be her best album to date. The video below was my favourite release and it came out during the run up to me moving to Manchester. It's the title track 'Counting Down The Days'. I'm sure anyone who is looking forward to something can relate to this. I thought it was quite appropriate at the time.....

I Have A Wii!

Well, I gave into temptation and just bought a Nintendo Wii from eBay. I got it as near to the retail price as I could, so I haven't paid £400 like some people I know! I just got the confirmation through that I have won and I've made the payment, so hopefully by Tuesday I'll have a nice shiny Wii to play with.

One of the reasons I chose to go with eBay is that no-one seems to know when they are coming back in stock. HMV and Virgin are still sold out. Game don't seem to know and Gamestation are unaware either. Ah well, no need to worry now :D

Reading List

I'm going to do away with my "12 Books For 2007" idea. Simply because if I finish a book halfway through the month, I don't want to wait to start my next book. So, I'll now just read at my leisure. This will be a place where I can keep a record of what I have read.

The Year Of Ice - Brian Malloy
I liked this book. It focuses on Kevin, an 18-year-old growing up in the 70's. Unknown to everyone else, he's gay. Easy to read and well written.

The Study Begins!

I like the whole idea of this being 7pm-9pm one day a week. The unit itself seems interesting. It looks at different concepts of health and how they are applied in practice. I got my essay (3000 words - no too bad) which needs to be handed in at the end of April. I also have to develop my professional practice portfolio. Thank God I have to do this. I should have been doing it from when I qualified in 2002. Looking forward to it :)

Uneventful Week

Well, I say uneventful simply because nothing has really happened with me being poorly etc. I went back to work yesterday, and felt maybe it was a day too soon. I'm on my days off now until Sunday, so I'll rest and hopefully be 100% for then.

I start my course at uni tonight. I just hope the traffic is OK. I have to drive to Bolton (Peter Kay country) and last week when I was driving back the traffic seemed a bit slow going into Bolton. I don't have to be there for 7pm though, so it should give me plenty of time if I leave for 6.

I'm feeling much better today - well apart from the bunged up nose and cough. Nothing half as rough as the last few days. I'm gonna go back to work tomorrow. I can't be having more time off. I know it's only 4 days and it's the first time off sick in 2 years, but I've been so bored. Saying that though, I'm only in tomorrow and then off on my 3 days off! Meh!

I feel a little better today. I had to call in sick over the weekend. All my aches and stuff have gone. I just have the coughs and blocked sinuses to deal with. I'm off work sick tomorrow too. It's the first time I've had to be off sick in 2 years! Alan made me laugh this morning. He woke up, I looked and him and he gave out a groan and muttered "I feel rough!". hehe. My throat is so sore. Nothing I take is helping. I'm just drinking lots and lots of water.

Today I feel crap!

It all started on Tuesday at work where I had a little headache. I thought it had gone, but then last night it got worse again. I hardly slept last night and I've just woke up now and feel so rough! My head is throbbing, my joints are aching and my throat is so sore from coughing! I think I'll just go and crawl back under the duvet!!

It's A Bit Windy!!

The winds have been really bad here today. Alan had been out and when he returned this afternoon, he said he had saw scaffolding falling and plastic sheeting flying in front of cars. We headed out for lunch and it had died down a bit, but had picked up again by the time we returned. From our window we could see art of the university and the roof kept onlifting up. Luckily, it didn't actually fly off. It was funny though watching the birds try to fly!

Student Life

I went to university today to enroll on my course. I'm now officially a student again until July 2009! It'll be weird having to got o lectures and go to a university again. It's been a while! I start lectures on the 25th of this month. So, it's all happened pretty fast. I already know the lecturer, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Back To School!

Those regular readers will know that the end of last year I completed the first module towards my degree. This was just a one off, but at the end my lecturer suggested I apply for the whole degree. I sent of my form and got an email today saying that I can erol on Wednesday to start my degree - eek! Scary!

Looking forward to it though. Should be fun. There's already a few people from work doing it, so no doubt our paths will cross at some point.

So, Ant gave me an idea. He's getting back in to reading. I used to love reading as a kid, but it's something I haven't really done since leaving school. What I plan to do is read a book each month - that's 12 books in 2007! Way more than I've ever read before. Thing is, I need some suggestions on what to read!!

We Have A Bedroom!!

At last!!

Ever since moving to Manchester in 2005, we've been living out of boxes. Simply because the last place we lived in was too small. Our last place was just meant to be a temporary thing. Thing is, we needed somewhere pretty quick. Our last place was cheap enough and only over the road from where Alan was staying initially. The bedroom was also so small, that you couldn't really fit any furniture in the bedroom for storage - so hence living out of boxes. Anyway, a year and a bit after moving in to out old place, we eventually moved out (temporary my arse!). Now, as I mentioned last week I have furniture!! We built it all yesterday and now it's in our room!! It looks like a bedroom now - woo! The table is up and now looks great.......

While getting rid of stuff and searching through all of those boxes I had grew so attached to, I came across loads of clothes I had forgotten about!! I now have a pile of clothes so high!! Once the pile has gone down, I'll try and upload a few pictures.

PS - Whoever sent me the message via the TalkBack function a few days ago, you didn't say who you were, but thanks anyway. There wasn't a lot I could do about it! ;)

Friday Night TV Returns!

Just watched the first episode of this American comedy. I loved it! Was more or less the same as the film 'The Devil Wears Prada', but was quite funny. Friday night TV seems to be getting better now. I used to love Friday night TV. I remember after school there would be Blossom - anyone remember Blossom?? Then TFI Friday and Friends. Friday nights were cool back then!

Hoping they return to the same standard. There's a new series of 'The Friday Night Project' starting tonight too!! I'm not even going to go into 'Celebrity Big Brother'. Nuff said! Not a fan of the celebrity series. Only watch the main series in the summer!

I took a trip to the new Ikea in Manchester today. We needed new drawers and storage and things for the bedroom and a dining table and chairs for the lounge. I got 2 sets of drawers, two bedside table kind of things and the table with four chair for under £350! Bargain!

..... the year I went to Seattle, USA, started and completed the first module of my degree, had my car broken into, celebrated my 27th birthday, saw Madonna on her Confessions Tour in London, sat in the Big Brother Diary Room chair, travelled on the London Underground, moved house, became even more addicted to 'Lost', also became addicted to another series of Big Brother, enjoyed a cool Manchester Pride Weekend, spent the weekend in London, celebrated a 2nd anniversary with Alan, came out to my family, punctured the tyre on my car, successfully changed the tyre on my car (woo!), applied for a mortgage.....

....hmmm, wonder what 2007 holds!

I was toying with the idea of doing a yearly review. I initially thought no, but came across something on Stuart's site which changed my mind.

What was your favourite movie in 2006?
Hmmm, this is a tricky one. I've seen tons and tons of films this year. If I had to choose one, then I'd go with 'The Prestige'. Set in old time London, it sees competition between two magicians - played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. For the comedy factor - I'd choose 'Confetti'. Cheap and cheerful.

What was your favourite book in 2006?
I'm not really a reader. The only book I can think of reading is Peter Kay's autobiography. Made me laugh from cover to cover.

What was your favourite song in 2006?
This one is really difficult. Don't think I can decide on one. Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' became one of my favourites towards the end of the year. Madonna's 'Jump' was always my favourite from her 'Confessions' album. I'd let Madonna and Snow Patrol fight it out amongst themselves for the title!

What was your favourite album in 2006?
Scissor Sisters - Ta-Dah. Although there have been a load of bloody good albums this year!

Are you richer or poorer?
Richer. Only because of pay rises at work. I get a yearly 3% rise in April and then another one when I've been on the same pay band for a year.

Thinner or fatter?
Hmmm - I wouldn't say fatter. Does heavier count?? hehe

What kept you sane this past year?
There's nothing that's made me want to go insane. I guess Alan has been there for me.

Which personal accomplishment in 2006 are you most pleased with?
I guess passing the first section of my degree. Hope to start more of the sections in 2007, and work towards completing my degree!

What was the happiest moment of 2006?
The reaction of my family when I came out to them. They were so cool and supportive!

What was your saddest moment of 2006?
It was very emotional when we had to move house. The whole have we?/haven't we? got the place we wanted. Turned out OK in the end - luckily!

What resolutions have you made for 2007?
To go back to the gym!! Also, I want to eat healthily and get into regular sleep/eating patterns.

Which bad habit are you most motivated to break?
Time spent online!! The March Chart showed I spent 162.2 hours online. Which worked out over a course of a year is 1946.4 hours (or 22% of the year). Too long I think!!

What are you most looking forward to in 2007?

I dunno really. Progressing in work, and possibly buying a new house!

This bus company scares me! Thank God it's temporarily been taken off the road. Maybe something good will come of it! I normally get this bus most mornings to work - only because it's 60p (normally it's £1.20 on Stagecoach). I would rather pay the £1.20 and feel safer. I understand and agree totally with what the article says. People that I have shown it to thought it couldn't all be true, but believe me - it is!

I got back from Newcastle last night. Had a good couple of days. Wish I could have stayed just that little bit longer, but I had to come back for work today! Later on today I'm heading on back up to Newcastle for a couple of days. It'll be my last visit up there this year as I have to be back for Thursday and then I'm working over the Christmas. I wanted to take the train originally - just a break from driving all of the time - but none of the trains have seats on them. They would still sell me a ticket, but only to stand. Sod that!! I'll take the car instead!

Guess it does mean I don't have to leave as early tomorrow. I can get a bit of a lie in after my busy 14hr shift today!! It's my last one of those this year too - woo!

He certainly is! This picture was taken in Manchester City Centre. It's actually of the town hall. They do this kind of display every year. I took it last week when I was at the Christmas Market that's in front of the town hall.

We normally buy our Christmas tree from there, but opted for an artificial one. Last time we had a real tree, it didn't last two minutes. Still looks as good though!

I WANT ONE!! Can you believe I never heard about these lovely things until only about 2 weeks ago?!?!?! Where the hell have I been?? They were demonstrating them in Manchester today, and all the people were starting to queue for the launch at midnight. I've been browsing through eBay and looking. I've been tempted so many times to buy one for £300. I've decided not to though. I've bought Alan and High Definition DVD drive for his Xbox, so he's just going to buy me a Wii when they get more stock again (whenever that may be!).

Tonight is my Christmas night out with work. We're actually having to. Tonight is our official one, and then a few of us are going out for drinks on the 15th. It's a meal and dancing tonight. Should be fun. I'm actually working until 6pm, so I'm going to be all rushed. I need to get home, get ready, leave and be at the venue for 7pm! It'll be tight, but I think I might make it *just*!

I was on a course yesterday. I've been qualified for just over 4 years now. So why is it that it's only now that I'm learning to put cannulas in and take blood from people? Well, the last trust I was at didn't help. They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. This trust is much more organised! It was quite a good course. We practiced on fake arms filled with what looked like cranberry juice! Anyway, I passed! Woo!

Weekend Going On's

So, I'm back from Newcastle.

I saw the Scissor Sisters on Saturday - they were pretty cool. If I saw them again though, I'd definetley go for seats as apposed to standing!

On Sunday night I went to see my mate who I hadn't seen for about 2 years. She has an 18 month old little boy now. He's pretty cool - quite a happy little chappy. I stayed there for a couple of hours and decided to leave for Manchester at about 6pm. Left my mates and noticed when I got back to my car that I had a flat tyre. I also realised that the spare tyre was already on the car - oops! I got the RAC to come out (after re-joining at a price of £101!), but because I didn't have a spare, they could only inflate my tyres enough to get me to a garage. As it was Sunday, he said he would come back in the morning! So, I ended up staying at my mates and waiting for him to come back on Monday morning. I managed to get them inflated and find a garage to get 2 new tyres. That set me back £54!! Hmmmph! I did get out of a day of going to work though - hehe. Not delibretly of course! ;)

My last night shift tonight!! Woo!! Thank God. It hasn't been too bad this week. Just the odd poorly person to look after, but nothing too extreme. I plan to do nothing tomorrow! I'm just gonna chill out on the sofa. Alan just bought a new 42" TV, so I think a day of DVDs is in order!

I'm seeing the Scissor Sisters on Saturday at Newcastle Arena. I'll either drive back up on Friday night or maybe Saturday morning. It all depends on how well I sleep. If I can't sleep then I might drive up through the night while the roads are quiet. I'm Looking forward to Saturday night. Meeting a couple of friends who I used to work with. Haven't seen one of them for 2 and a half years!

What A Weekend!

Well, I'm back in Manchester now. I got back at about 6.30pm and have been to the cinema tonight to see 'The Prestige'. Was quite a good film, I enjoyed it.

Anyway, I had a good few days in Newcastle. I was out on Thursday night for a dinner with some family for my sisters 18th birthday. Was quite a nice evening. Wasn't anything too big - that was planned for Saturday!

On the Friday night I went to see 'Chicago' with Jennifer Ellison. She was pretty good. I was well impressed. It's the second time I've seen 'Chicago'. The last time was a couple of years ago with Marti Pellow of Wet Wet Wet fame. I had to drive to Sunderland to see it this time. Not as far as I first initially thought.

Saturday night was interesting! The only member of my family who knew about my sexuality was my mum. When I moved to Manchester a couple of years ago I sorted all of the stuff I wanted to take out. Or so I thought! My dad asked my to sort out some of the things I had left behind. I went up to see what there was, and on top of the pile was a magazine! Nothing too graphic - just a gay lifestyle magazine. I suddenly thought "Shit!". My dad was at work on Saturday night, but his girlfriend was in. I got the courage to ask her if my dad had ever questioned my sexuality. I was relieved when she replied "We've knew for a few months now. We've just been waiting for you to tell us!". That made me feel tons better!! I went out and had a good night. I told the rest of my family who were out on Saturday and their reaction was great! The people I was dreading telling was my brother - who has since said it makes no difference to him, and my grandparents. My grandparents were also great with it. Shocked and upset a little to start with, but they have told me that they are both fine and I'm still the same person!

I now feel like a 10000 ton weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It's all now out in the open and I can be myself now! Thank God!!

Quick Update

Finished my night shifts this morning and what a night!! I was really busy! Never really stopped all night. Then one of my patients decided to bleed everywhere at 4am. There was so much blood! Luckily I got to them in time and we managed to stabilise him! Thank God I'm off for a few days now.

Setting of to Newcastle in a bit. Looking forward to it really. It's my sisters 18th birthday today and we're heading out for a family meal. I'll be back on Sunday evening, so I'll post again then.

It's the first of my night shifts tonight! I'm only doing three this week, as I've managed to take on as annual leave. I'm heading back up to Newcastle on Thursday afternoon. It's my sisters 18th birthday and we're off out. I'm then being all cultured and going to the theatre on Friday night to see 'Chicago'. I saw it a few years back. I really enjoyed it.

I'm also on nights next week and also back in Newcastle next week. My mate had a spare ticket to see the 'Scissor Sisters' at Newcastle Arena on the 18th and she said I could have it if I wanted it!

So it should all be fun!

MOT

You may remember a few days ago I said I was putting my car in for it's MOT. Well, I didn't get it in until this morning. Everything went well. It passed!! I was nervous about getting it back. When I put my old car in for it's MOT, it cost me £450 to pass it. It was my cars first MOT, so I wasn't expecting it to fail. It's all done now for another year! My car has only done 26,000 miles in 3 years. Not bad!

Loose Change, Scary Basements and MOT

For the past few days I've been sick of loose change lying around all over the place. Just loads and loads of 1p, 2p and 5p coins (and even the occasional 10p and 20p too). We did try to manage it by putting it all in a bowl on the living room table, but it didn't work. Change still made it's way into the bedroom. I put a stop to it all and bought a money box for it all. It's pretty cool. It recognises which coins you are putting in and calculates a running balance of how much you have put in. I was on for ages putting all of the coins in. Imagine my surprise when I pressed the balance button and was shown the figure of £44.62!! Almost £50!!! All lying around the apartment!! Imagine how much loose change is lying across peoples lounges all over the UK! Even if 30 million households had £50 lying around that's equal to £1.5billion!!

I'm putting my car in for it's first M.O.T tomorrow. Hopefully it'll pass! Just been to give it a clean up and an empty. Where I live, we have a basement underground car park. It was quite freaky down their. Being Halloween and all that. Reminded me of a scary movie plot. Taking the lift to the basement and being alone in the car park. I have to be at the garage at 8.30am tomorrow - eek!!

It's been a few days!!

The last week as been all over the place. My days off were all split last week. So rather than having two together and then one later in the week I was working for one, then off for one, then on for one and off for one. Messed me all up! T make things worse, I worked about 2hrs more than I should have last week. Simply because it was really busy and needed to get stuff sorted before I left. Not to worry though. I've got all three of them together this week!

The weekend has also been really strange for me. Alan has gone on a mini break cruise thing with his family. I couldn't get the time off work so wasn't able to go. Anyway, today and yesterday was the first time in two and a half years where we've had no form of communication. We've always spoke or sent a text message. It's really strange. Going to sleep and waking up is really weird too!! Anyway, I'll stop before I make you all sick hehe.

I'm gonna make the most of feeling all tired and I'm gonna have an early night. It may be 22.45, but for me, this is early!

Over the past view weeks, I've found myself subscribing to more and more video blogs (or vlogs as they are known). I can see the appeal to doing a few of these each week rather than sitting and typing everyday. The main seemingly being that you say more when you do a video blog. I dunno - I find them amusing though.

Shall I replace my regular entries with video entries? Is this the way forward? Would you watch??? This doesn't mean I'm ending this blog! I'm just intrigued.

Some of you may remember the road traffic accident I was involved in back in June 2005 (wasn't my fault by the way hehe). Well, I heard from my solicitor today and it looks like it's coming to a final end! Thank God! I should here something back today!

Oh, sorry for being so quiet lately. I've been working and when I'm not at work, I've been feeling quite tired. When I go to bed though, I lie wide awake. It's messed my sleep pattern up big time.

Remember the Sony Balls advert? Well there's a new advert about to be released. It's called 'Paint' and was filmed on a derelict housing estate in Glasgow. It's pretty cool. I wouldn't have liked to have been responsible for the cleaning!!

I never understood why this track didn't get a release in the UK. It's a great tune. The track was originally recorded with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback on vocals, but was switched to Alex Band of The Calling for the release.
